Located in the hinterland of Baiyun New Town, Guangzhou City, the Operations Management Center is adjacent to Guangzhou Gymnasium to the east and Guangzhou Children's Park to the west, covering an area of 21,000 square meters with a total construction area of 65,000 square meters. The project has a panoramic view of Baiyun Mountain to the east, and in such a privileged environment, natural landscape and architectural design become equally important.
An open park that brings together rail transportation companies
The design of this project is divided into four parts: headquarters office, independent office, commercial space and bus terminal. The headquarters occupies the main street corner, with the main building on the north side and a drop-off point combined with the vehicular entrance/exit on East Yuncheng Road. The auxiliary building is arranged on the east side of the square, and the two parts are connected by a bridge. The two parts of the main building and the auxiliary building are divided into a handful of hands to enclose the city square. The independent office buildings are spread out along the Golden Garden Road, interspersed by lanes, and the second and third floors are partially connected by connecting bodies to facilitate flexible separation and combination.
The east, west and south facades of the site are designed with metal perforated panels to form an overall sunshade structure, which is strong and powerful. The exterior walls of the buildings inside the park are shaded by the wood-colored interior vertical louvers, which are warm and open. The strong lines and undulating contours create a rich sense of hierarchy.
The "City Trail" linking the city and nature
The Baiyun New Town business office and children's park on the west side of the site form the "urban area", while the Guangzhou Gymnasium and Baiyun Mountain scenic area can be called the "leisure area". The "Urban Trail" starts from the intersection of East Yuncheng Road/Jinyuan Road, crosses the site and connects with the pedestrian passage of the stadium to the east, linking the urban and recreational areas.
The walkway sinks 5 meters and is at a different elevation from the office podium level of the business properties, which are functionally separated from each other, but are interconnected by elevators and stairs, forming a small circulation in the area. The B1 levels on the west and south sides of the building are also connected to the city street as a complement to the walkway, turning the originally static green belt into a flowing, three-dimensional green park.
A vibrant urban space
The "city square" and "leisure garden" at both ends of the walkway, together with the office level podiums and alleyways, form a network of open spaces.
On weekdays, people meet and communicate on the platforms and bridges, and after lunch, they cool off in the city square and rest in the leisure gardens; on weekends and holidays, the city square becomes a place of leisure for citizens: the elderly and children play here, families visiting the park come here for lunch and rest; before and after sports and performances at the Guangzhou Stadium, friends meet here for meals and dates. Business white-collar workers, neighborhood residents, park visitors, and performance audiences ...... with different needs can gather here, forming a prosperous and vibrant urban leisure space.
Ecological canyon at the foot of Baiyun Mountain
The rolling banyan trees around the site are an ecological element to be focused on in the design. The proposal preserves these native trees and focuses on the design of the fifth façade - using the setback of the building volumes on both sides of the trail to form a staggered roof deck, combined with green roofs and hanging plantings, just like an ecological canyon that continues the gully terrain of Baiyun Mountain towards the city, "Under Baiyun Mountain. Urban walkway, ecological canyon", where the city and nature blend harmoniously.
