Zaragoza is the fifth-largest city in Spain, with a history of a thousand years. Located at the confluence of the rivers Ebro, Gállego, and Huerva, the city has a close relationship with water.
The pavilion is located in Ebro square, which is the closest square to the river. As the square theme of OIKOS and shared water, the design of the pavilion should deeply combine the spirit of "water" with city life.
Our design of the contents in the square are in four main ideas to convey to visitors:
1. ”Recreational Water”: this reminds visitors that water was and is being used as an important part of the urban landscape.
2. “Friendly Water”: it shows the result of human actions of respecting and coexisting with water, rather than opposing water.
3. “The Leading Role of Water”: it considers the various reform and revitalization projects carried out by cities on their waterfront in the past few years, and restore direct contact with river banks, oceans, or lakes.
4. “The Future of Water”: major examples of building new cities or expanding urban centers on the water are given. The examples cited were chosen because of their extreme, unprecedented and innovative characteristics.
The content emphasizes the value of this natural factor in improving the quality of urban life, calling for a change in citizens' attitudes to reassess the relationship between cities and water.
We adopt the transparent walls to dilute the boundaries between architecture, exposure support, and landscape. We also connect the different exhibition areas with ramps to guide visitors through them in a comfortable walking way.
The exhibition materials will be based on large-scale images, screenings, and spectacular scene facilities to attract "learning through entertainment" audiences. Communication technology also plays a key role in this subject area.
